The Rooms
The Sofia Hotel gets my vote for the comfiest bed I’ve slept in this year.
The Good:
For a historic hotel, no detail of the Sofia has been spared. The rooms are beautifully decorated with mood lighting, luxurious bed linens and intricate bath amenities. Did I mention how comfortable the bed is? The Sofia Hotel had me looking for new bed linens and comforters as soon as I returned from my vacation.
The Bad:
Since The Sofia is a historic building, the rooms are pretty small. This wasn’t a big deal since I was staying alone, but I can imagine it getting pretty cramped with 2 or more people.
The Hotel
The Good:
Focusing on comfort and effortless style, The Sofia Hotel provides a tranquil historical getaway from the high energy city of San Diego. The Sofia’s classical full-service American bistro and bar creates an old time essence and makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. I give the Sofia extra bonus points for hosting a 24-Hour Fitness Center & Yoga Studio, being pet friendly, and being conveniently located near the Gaslamp District.
The Bad:
To be honest, it kind of sucked being in San Diego (pretty much the U.S. capital for beautiful weather) and not having a balcony or a pool to enjoy the sun.
The Verdict
For being so close the the gaslamp and having stunning interior decor, the Sofia is REALLY reasonably priced. I give the Sofia a thumbs up overall.
