On my way from Munich to Lake Lucerne, I decided to spend one day in Zurich. A lot of travel blogs and online articles advised against this, stating that there isn’t much to see in Zurich. I disagree.
Look how beautiful this is! How could I pass this up?
I’m not going to lie, Zurich is expensive. You will probably end up overpaying for some hole in the wall hotel, but it will be worth it if you are as obsessed with European cities as I am.
We started off our night looking for a Restaurant called Zeughauskeller, a popular Swiss Restaurant in Zurich. We thought we found it here…
This wasn’t it.
We went in this place wearing flannel shirts and jeans, only to find people in bow ties and cocktail attire. Apparently the restaurant above is where couples book their wedding receptions. The owner was a very nice guy, and gave us two glasses of wine on the house even though we weren’t in the right place. That being said, if anyone is getting married in Zurich, you should go to this place.
We finally found the REAL Zeughauskeller:
Where I had this amazing sausage, and also the weirdest dessert I’ve ever had in my life…
With its medieval setting and traditional swiss food, this place is a must eat. It gets absolutely packed so you may want to make a reservation. With a whole entire page of it’s menu dedicated to different types of sausages, Zeughauskeller had me from the start.
We left to take a stroll around Zurich and got distracted by very loud American music and singing. I always say you should always follow the music, and so we did and found..Zurich’s very own Oktoberfest!
This is a much scaled down version of Munich’s Oktoberfest, but still fun to stumble upon .
Now onto more pictures of Zurich at night..
& I’ll finish up with some delicious Swiss chocolate 🙂
