What is Happy Pizza?
So you’ve arrived in Siem Reap and you’ve heard of their infamous Happy Pizza. Originally, I wasn’t even going to mention this in a post, but it seems as though there is a lot of interest, so I figured it would be an intriguing topic… especially because weed isn’t technically legal in Cambodia. However, it isn’t really a priority for the police and is sort of secretly accepted. A lot of Cambodians use it for cooking or as a therapeutic herb.
In the words of Michelle Luksh, “Happy Pizza is basically your run of the mill pizza topped with a little extra specialness in the form of cannabis – pot, weed, marijuana… whatever you want to call it.”
Where Can You Find Happy Pizza?
Grab a tuk-tuk ride from anywhere in Siem Reap to Hospital Street to have your pick of Happy Pizza Parlors. You will also probably enjoy the names.. “Happy Herb Pizza, Happy Special Pizza, Ecstatic Pizza” and the list goes on.
What Much Does It Cost?
Surprisingly, Happy Pizza costs the same amount of money as every other pizza topping, around $6.50/pie (may be more expensive depending on size). Cambodia does accept the dollar.
What Was The Experience Like?
Find out what it’s like to eat a Happy Pizza (or two) for the first time in Michelle’s post “48 Crazy Hours in Siem Reap”.
I felt like I had been transported to Mars.
